DDR4 SDRAM (Double data rate synchronous dynamic access memory) specifications have been launched by JEDEC. RAM which has significant impact on the speed of operation is improved significantly in the last few years. From DDR1 to DDR4 has been obtained in short period of time. DDR 4 has significant improvement in the performance over the DDR3 with higher speed and low power consumption.
Two parameters i.e. Memory size of RAM and speed of operation of RAM affect the overall speed of computer significantly. Speed of operation of RAM affect each processing task of computer. Higher speed RAM executes each instruction promptly. On the other hand size of RAM required depends on size of software applications. Memory sensitive application like Photoshop store large data in temporary memory so they demand large memory size otherwise performance is compromised. DDR4 Vs DDR3 Speed
Data rates for DDR3 are 800,1066, 1333,1600, 1866 and 2133 Mb/s.
At present data rates assigned for DDR4 are 1600,1866,2133,2400,2667 and 3200 Mb/s.
The maximum speed of DDR3 i.e 1600 Mb/s is the initial speed of DDR4 so significant improvement on the speed of I/o operations will be seen on electronic equipment with DDR4.

Core and input /output voltage requirement is 1.5 V
Core and input /output voltage requirement is 1.2 V
This less voltage requirement demand less power for the functioning of DDR4.
DDR4 Vs DDR3 Memory Density
DDR3 memory comes in 512 MB – 8 GB density.
DDR4 memory will comes in 2 GB -16 GB density.
Memory lowest size is improved from 512 MB to 2GB in DDR4 and highest size is improved to 16GB. Memory upper size enhancement will have much benefit for high end computing systems like servers. Their performance will be improved remarkably.
